बिहार के जल संसाधन विभाग ने बाढ़ के खतरे को लेकर हाई अलर्ट जारी किया है. विभाग के प्रधान सचिव ने सुपौल जिला प्रशासन के लिए भी अलर्ट जारी किया है. पत्र जारी के बाद से कोसी नदी इलाके में अधिकारियों की टीम आपातकालीन आपदा की संभावना को देखते हुए सुपौल डीएम के निर्देश पर पर लोगों को अलर्ट किया गया है. विभाग के अनुसार, कोसी और गंडक नदियों के जल अधिग्रहण क्षेत्र में हो रही भारी बारिश को लेकर अलर्ट जारी किया है. क्योंकि नेपाल में हो रही लगातार बारिश की वजह से कई जिलों पर बाढ़ का खतरा मंडरा रहा है. सुपौल स्थित वीरपुर बैराज से 6 लाख 81 हजार क्यूसेक पानी डिस्चार्ज होने की संभावना है. तो वाल्मीकि नगर स्थित गंडक बैराज से 6 लाख क्यूसेक पानी डिस्चार्ज होने की संभावना है. अगले दो से तीन दिनों तक पानी का जलस्तर काफी ऊपर जा सकता है.

Several residential areas in Nepal’s capital Kathmandu City were submerged after heavy rains triggered widespread flooding. As the incessant rainfall triggers flooding across Nepal, more than 60 people have been confirmed dead. The recent flooding has thrown life out of gear as locals were seen wading through knee-high waters. The government has deployed more than 20 thousand security personnel for the search and rescue operation. President Zelensky has confirmed for the first time that the Ukrainian military is conducting a cross-border offensive inside Russia's western Kursk region.

He said Ukraine was pushing the war onto "the aggressor's territory".

It is the deepest raid into the country since Moscow began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Russia's foreign ministry said its army will deliver a "tough response" to the incursion.

Former President Donald Trump says he is "safe and well" following gunshots "in my vicinity" at his golf course in Florida on Sunday.

The FBI says it is investigating "what appears to be an attempted assassination" of former President Trump.

A man with an AK-47-style weapon was seen near Mar-a-Lago, where Trump was apparently located at the time, the BBC's US partner CBS News reports.

Secret Service agents fired shots at the suspect, who attempted to flee.

A person is reportedly in custody and a weapon and scope have been recovered.

Hundreds of members of the Lebanese armed group Hezbollah have reportedly been injured after handheld pagers they use to communicate exploded.

Lebanon’s state news agency said there were blasts in the southern suburbs of Beirut and several other areas. Hezbollah's al-Manar TV also said many pagers had exploded, without identifying those hurt.

Videos and photos on social media appeared to show wounded men sitting or lying on floors and others being rushed to hospitals. Unconfirmed CCTV footage showed blasts in shops.

A Hezbollah official told Reuters news agency it constituted the "biggest security breach yet" since hostilities with Israel escalated 11 months ago in parallel with the Gaza war.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military, though the events come hours after Israel’s security cabinet made the safe return of 60,000 residents displaced in the north by Hezbollah attacks an official war goal.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy has announced that the UK is suspending approximately 30 export licences for military equipment, following its review of Israel’s compliance with international humanitarian law in the course of its military operations in Gaza.

The 30 licences (out of a total of around 350) include components for military aircraft, helicopters, drones and items which facilitate ground targeting. Officials say the government has concluded there is a clear risk that items exported to Israel might be used in serious violations of international humanitarian law.

Officials emphasise that this is not an arms embargo and that the government’s assessment is not designed to prejudge the outcomes of work by international courts, such as the ICJ and ICC.

Left-leaning politician Anura Kumara Dissanayake has won Sri Lanka’s presidential election after a historic second round of counting.

He heads the National People’s Power alliance, which includes Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, or People's Liberation Front - a party that has traditionally backed strong state intervention and lower taxes, and campaigned for leftist economic policies.

The Israeli military says it is conducting "extensive" strikes on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon as cross-border attacks between the two sides continue to ratchet up.

Lebanese civilians are being told to move away from areas used by the Iran-backed group for military purposes, an IDF spokesperson says.

One person has been killed this morning in Israeli air strikes north of the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon's health ministry says.

It comes after a weekend of cross-border attacks that saw Hezbollah rockets hit deep inside Israel, reaching targets in the city of Haifa.

Donald Trump has pledged that the United States would “take other countries’ jobs” if he returned to the White House as president.

Israeli airstrikes have killed at least 492 people in Lebanon in a single day, according to the authorities there, as the conflict escalated into full-scale war. More than 1,600 people were reported to have been injured.

Tens of thousands of people in southern Lebanon fled their homes and headed north on the main road to the capital Beirut in the face of the Israeli assault.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the aim was to change the “security balance” along its northern border. Hezbollah militia, backed by Iran, have been firing rockets across the border into Israel since the Hamas attack of October 7th which led to the war in Gaza.

Israel Defence Forces said it had hit more than 1,300 Hezbollah targets in 24 hours. Hezbollah was reported to have fired 35 rockets into Israel, with no reports of any casualties.

The conflict in Lebanon has escalated sharply in recent days, after pagers and radio handsets exploded, killing and injuring many members of Hezbollah. Israel has not admitted responsibility but is widely regarded as having been behind the attacks.

The United Nations is warning that the Middle East is on the brink of imminent catastrophe, with fears of escalation into an all-out war.

Israel and the Hezbollah militia-group in Lebanon have continued to exchange fire across the border. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, launched more than 100 rockets into Israel in retaliation for the attacks in Lebanon using exploding pagers and radio handsets, which killed dozens and injured hundreds more. Israel struck targets in northern Lebanon, saying it had destroyed thousands of rocket launch sites.

Israel’s army chief has told soldiers that air strikes in Lebanon are preparing the ground for them to "enter enemy territory”.

Herzi Halevi told troops: “You hear the jets overhead; we have been striking all day. This is both to prepare the ground for your possible entry and to continue degrading Hezbollah.

"Today, we will continue, we are not stopping; we keep striking and hitting them everywhere. The goal is very clear—to safely return the residents of the north,” he added.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has expressed concern over the "almost hour-on-hour" escalation of the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon, as he reiterated calls for a ceasefire.

The US and France are also working on ceasefire proposals to resolve the escalating fighting in Lebanon, Israeli sources are quoted as saying by Reuters news agency.

However, no significant progress has been made so far, the officials add.

The head of Israel’s army has told troops that extensive air strikes in Lebanon targeting the armed group Hezbollah may pave the way for them to “enter enemy territory”.

The remarks by Lt Gen Halevi are the plainest indication yet from a senior figure that a ground invasion of Lebanon may be imminent.

Lt Gen Halevi said troops would "destroy the enemy" and its infrastructure. “We keep striking and hitting them everywhere,” he told soldiers from the 7th Brigade taking part in an exercise on Israel’s northern border. “The goal is very clear - to safely return the residents of the north. To achieve that, we are preparing the process of a manoeuvre, which means your military boots... will enter enemy territory.”

More than 90,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon in the last three days, according to the United Nations as Israel carried out another wave of "extensive" airstrikes in southern Lebanon.

51 people were killed in the latest Israeli attacks according to Lebanon’s health ministry. Around 500 were reported to have been killed yesterday.

Israel said it had intercepted a ballistic missile fired by the Hezbollah militia group towards Tel Aviv. It’s the first such rocket attack on the Israeli city. Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, says it is resisting Israeli aggression and acting in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has been killed.

A statement shared on the IDF's X account says: "Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world."

Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon's militant Shia Islamist Hezbollah movement, is one of the best known and most influential figures in the Middle East.

Nasrallah has not been seen in public for years because of fears of being assassinated by Israel.

The statement follows a series of overnight strikes in Beirut which Israel said were targeting Nasrallah and other Hezbollah commanders.

Sudan is at breaking point.

After 17 months of a brutal civil war which has devastated the country, the army has launched a major offensive in the capital Khartoum, targeting areas in the hands of its bitter rival, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.

The RSF seized most of Khartoum at the start of the conflict, while the army controls the twin city of Omdurman, just across the River Nile.

But there are still places where people can, and do, cross between the two sides.
