Colt Seavers was known as The Fall Guy of Hollywood, a stuntman who uses his skills and knowledge of stunt effects to moonlight as a bounty hunter. Yeah, Watch out, Dog!

But Colt would see through the gimmicks, the magic of moviemaking allowing him to see through the BS. Colt was always accompanied by his cousin Howie, and aided by the beautiful bail bondswoman, Terri Michaels - and, of course, his fellow stuntwoman Jody Banks. This show was action packed, with great detective plotlines, as well as a behind the scene glimpse into Hollywood. For those of us enthralled by film and TV, this show let us go behind the curtain, with our favorite action hero guiding the way, Mr. Lee Majors. And the crooning theme song that set the mood, was of course sung by Lee Majors himself, even becoming a minor hit in the early 80s.

SYNOPSIS
Colt Seavers, a battered and past-his-prime action choreographer, finds himself working on a film set with Tom Ryder, a famous actor for whom he had doubled long ago. When Tom goes missing and the film, which is being directed by Jody Moreno, Colt's ex-girlfriend in her directing debut, is in danger of being shut down, Colt volunteers to find Tom and save Jody's debut film.

With the release of the reboot movie "The Fall Guy" starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, I thought I'd do a video on two episodes of the original Lee Majors series in which near-fatal accidents happened while filming behind the scenes.

The first, in which the late stuntman Mickey Gilbert was directing, occurred at Indian Dunes Park where the a fatal helicopter crash claimed two lives while filming the movie The Twilight Zone. The second, two years later to the day, happened in Valencia, Calif. during a spectacular stunt jump.

Both accidents resulted in life-changing injuries for those involved... and even resulted in a ground-breaking lawsuit against creator Glen Larson and star/producer Majors.

Tom is still gracing our TVs currently starring in season 12 of Blue Bloods. Happy Birthday Tom.

Usually when a show is created, the theme is written to reflect the show. But with 'The Fall Guy' it was the other way around. Producers already had the theme (written for a series that never got off the ground) now all they needed was the show to build around it. And they got one that ran for five seasons. It had action and humor, plus occasional star cameos. And that theme song - by David Somerville, Gail Jensen, and Glen Larson - stuck around for the entire run. The visuals under it did change a bit, so we have two opening title sequences (one includes the first-season explainer narrated by Majors), plus two end credits rolls with different arrangements. At first the singer was identified as Colt Seavers (Majors' character name) but in later seasons it read 'Lee Majors'.
