It was Thanksgiving, and Celie planned to leave, along with Shug and everyone else, right after dinner, to go to Memphis with them and make a new life for herself. All because it was Mister to had kept her sister Nettie's letters from her. And he ran Nettie off, all those years ago, to begin with. And it was Mister that married her, against her own wishes. And Mister, was abusive to her, in many different ways. He made her life HELL. So it was time to go. But before she did, she cursed Mister by telling him that, Until He Did Right By Her, Everything He Even Thought About, Was Going To Fail.

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker, The Color Purple spans the years 1909 to 1949, relating the life of Celie (Whoopi Goldberg), a Southern black woman virtually sold into a life of servitude to her brutal husband, sharecropper Albert (Danny Glover). Celie pours out her innermost thoughts in letter form to her sister Nettie (Akousa Busia), but Albert has been hiding the letters Nettie writes back, allowing Celie to assume that Nettie is dead. Finally, Celie finds a champion in the don't-take-no-guff Sofia (Oprah Winfrey), the wife of Glover's son from a previous marriage. Alas, Sofia is "humbled" when she is beaten into submission by angry whites. Later, Celie is able to forge a strong friendship with Albert's mistress Shug (Margaret Avery). Emboldened by this, Celie begins rifling through her husband's belongings and finds Nettie's letters. Able at last to stand up to her husband, Celie leaves him to search for a new life on her own. A major box-office hit, The Color Purple was nominated for eleven Oscars. The film was co-produced by Quincy Jones, who also wrote the score.

INHALTSANGABE:
Nach dem Tod ihres Mannes kommt Tanja (Carina Diesing) nur schwer mit ihrem Leben zurecht. Von den einen auf den anderen Tag ist sie auf einmal alleinerziehende Mutter einer Tochter. Die 13-jährige Lilly (Jolie Sarah Werner) steckt mitten in der Pubertät und hat den Verlust ihres Vaters noch immer nicht verarbeitet. Als Tanja abends in der Küche steht, bemerkt sie einen Mann, der sie von der Straße gegenüber mit seinem Blick fixiert. Kurz darauf erhält sie merkwürdige Anrufe und als sie den Mann schließlich wieder vor ihrem Haus sieht, sucht sie Rat bei ihrer Freundin Franzi. Auf ihr Drängen erstattet Tanja bei der Polizei Anzeige gegen Unbekannt, doch dieser Schritt ändert nichts daran, dass sie sich noch immer unwohl fühlt. Lilly darf daraufhin nur gegen Auflagen ihre Freunde besuchen. Als sich Tanja nach einem Einkauf in der Stadt in ihrem Auto beobachtet fühlt, wird sie kurz darauf in ihrer Ahnung bestätigt, als sie an ihrem Rückspiegel eine Kette findet, die vorher nicht dort war – und Tanja kann Lilly telefonisch nicht erreichen...

Wicked, the untold story of the witches of Oz, stars Emmy, Grammy and Tony winning powerhouse Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, Broadway’s The Color Purple) as Elphaba, a young woman, misunderstood because of her unusual green skin, who has yet to discover her true power, and Grammy-winning, multi-platinum recording artist and global superstar Ariana Grande as Glinda, a popular young woman, gilded by privilege and ambition, who has yet to discover her true heart.

The two meet as students at Shiz University in the fantastical Land of Oz and forge an unlikely but profound friendship. The cast of characters includes Pfannee and ShenShen, two conniving compatriots of Glinda played by Emmy nominee Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live) and Bronwyn James (Harlots), and a new character created for the film, Miss Coddle, played by Tony nominee Keala Settle (The Greatest Showman).

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians, In the Heights), Wicked is the first chapter of a two-part immersive, cultural celebration. Wicked Part Two is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 26, 2025.

This is a passion project of about 4 years in the making. I was a big fan of the X-Wing PC games as a kid and also really enjoyed Michael Stackpole's X-Wing book series. I’ve always had an interest in those New Republic adventures which is chiefly why I decided to make this short. I hope you all like it!

The primary software and workflow consisted of an animation pipeline in Blender that would be exported and rendered in Houdini using the GPU renderer Redshift. Final compositing was finished in After Effects.

Apart from a few kitbash sets, all assets were modeled and textured (Substance Painter) from scratch since the making of the spaceships is part of the fun.
