Heute gibt es eine Reihe von Entwicklungen aus dem Raum Toretsk.
Hier haben die Ukrainer die 95. Luftlandebrigade in die Region verlegt, um die Lage zu stabilisieren und die russischen Kräfte durch schnelle Gegenangriffe zu schwächen.
Das Hauptziel der Russen besteht darin, die Frontlinie zu begradigen und eine zweite Vorstoßachse in Richtung Kostyantynivka zu eröffnen, um den stagnierenden Angriff auf Chasiv Yar zu unterstützen. Um nach Kostyantynivka vorzustoßen, müssen die Russen zunächst die ukrainische Stadt Toretsk unter ihre Kontrolle bringen, und sie haben vor kurzem begonnen, von zwei Seiten auf die befestigte Stadt vorzurücken. Da die Russen jedoch noch keine großen Reserven in die Region verlegt haben, sind die beiden russischen Einbrüche bei Pivnichne und Niu-York wahrscheinlich keine geplanten Offensivoperationen, sondern eher opportunistische Schläge nach einer gescheiterten ukrainischen Brigaderotation.
Da den russischen Streitkräften keine Reserven zur Verfügung stehen, stehen die russischen Soldaten an der Front unter Zeitdruck. Sie haben nur eine begrenzte Zeit, um ihre Ziele zu erreichen, bevor ihnen Männer und Material ausgehen. Derzeit versuchen die Russen, die ukrainische Verteidigung zu überwältigen und einen völligen Zusammenbruch der ukrainischen Verteidigung herbeizuführen, indem sie überall in der genauso gut befestigten Siedlung Pivnichne Infanterieangriffe starten.
Die Russen haben außerdem eine groß angelegte Bombenkampagne auf die Stadt gestartet, bei der sie Gleitbomben, thermobarische und konventionelle Artillerie einsetzen, um ukrainische Stellungen am Rande der Siedlung und des Hochhausviertels zu beschießen. Die Lage am Stadtrand ist äußerst unbeständig; russische und ukrainische geolokalisierte Aufnahmen zeigen, dass beide Parteien in demselben Gebiet aktiv sind, wobei es den Russen manchmal gelingt, den Stadtrand zu erreichen, aber auch hier werden sie schnell ausgeschaltet.
Um die Lage zu stabilisieren, wurde die ukrainische 95. Luftlandebrigade, die von der ukrainischen Führung häufig zur Stabilisierung kritischer Situationen eingesetzt wird, als schnelle Eingreiftruppe angefordert, um einen Gegenangriff durchzuführen und russische Angriffsgruppen aus der Siedlung zurückzudrängen. Das erste Ziel der 95. Brigade bestand darin, die Russen aus den nördlichen Außenbezirken von Pivnichne zu vertreiben, da der Süden durch das Hochhausviertel geschützt war und die russischen Angriffe im Norden das dringlichere Problem darstellten. Die Brigade veröffentlichte eine Vielzahl von geolokalisierten Aufnahmen, die ihre Kampfhandlungen dokumentieren, als eine ukrainische Drohne russische Angriffsgruppen dabei filmte, wie sie in Häuser am Stadtrand vordrangen. Die Ukrainer feuerten sofort mit Artillerie auf die Gebäude und stoppten den russischen Angriff. Die ukrainischen Drohnenoperatoren überwachten das Gebiet weiterhin intensiv und nahmen jede russische Bewegung oder Position mit Artillerie, Drohnen und von Drohnen abgeworfenen Granaten ins Visier.
Nachdem die russische Präsenz in den Außenbezirken auf nahezu Null reduziert worden war, bestand der nächste Schritt darin, die russischen Stellungen im so genannten „Arm“ von Pivnichne zu eliminieren. Interessanterweise war dies kein Einzelfall, sondern die Ukrainer setzten weiterhin gepanzerte Mannschaftstransporter und Schützenpanzer ein, um die russische Position zu untergraben. Einmal setzten die Ukrainer sogar einen Panzer ein, der hochexplosive Granaten auf wichtigere russische Stellungen abfeuerte, um sicherzustellen, dass diese zerstört wurden. Schließlich griffen sie einen russischen Panzer an, der russischen Einheiten Feuerunterstützung gab, und setzten ihn außer Gefecht, bevor sie ihn mit einer von einer Drohne abgeworfenen Granate ausschalteten, was die Munition in Brand steckte.

Today there are a lot of updates from the Kharkiv direction.
The most interesting news comes from the area of Lyptsi. Here, the Russians degraded their main offensive forces to the point where the only way to compensate for the losses became the recruitment and deployment of mercenaries from Central Africa and Sri Lanka.
In this region, the Russians are struggling to advance with a limited number of troops, attempting to justify the Kharkiv offensive that has so far failed to achieve its declared objectives. Approximately eight thousand Russian soldiers are engaged in the fighting in Kharkiv, significantly outnumbered by Ukrainian forces by at least three to one. Consequently, the Russians are unable to make headway due to fierce resistance and heavy losses. Without reinforcements, their position in the region is at risk of collapsing.
The Kharkiv front has often been neglected by the Russian command, resulting in a shortage of reinforcements from regular troops. This neglect led to the deployment of foreign mercenaries from Africa, speculated to be associated with the Wagner Group. The Wagner Group previously maintained a substantial presence in Africa, with numerous military instructors and recruitment centers across Central Africa.
However, it turned out that these were African recruits of the Russian army. While they are not part of the Wagner Group, it is highly likely that the Russian army is using Wagner's infrastructure in Africa for recruiting mercenaries. Additionally, many former Wagner fighters have joined the Russian military in units like Storm-Z, suggesting that Wagner instructors in Africa have likely participated in organizing the African Corps.
The Russian government is actively trying to attract individuals from Africa and developing nations by offering a monthly salary of two thousand two hundred dollars, health insurance, and Russian citizenship for recruits and their families. This offer is highly appealing to many people from underdeveloped regions, such as Burundi, Congo, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, where the average monthly income ranges from fifteen to fifty dollars.
The Russian Africa Corps, established in December 2023, comprises around two thousand fighters, including officers, soldiers, experienced mercenaries, and new recruits, many of whom previously served in Wagner. According to British intelligence, the Russian command deployed the Africa Corps to the Belgorod region in April. This deployment was later confirmed by footage from the area.
In one such video, an African mercenary, likely separated from his squad, is detected by a Ukrainian drone. The mercenary helplessly tries to defend himself from the drone using a wooden stick. Such irregular and ineffective actions by foreign mercenaries result from inadequate training and instructions, amplified by a significant language barrier. However, even if we set aside the low quality of African mercenaries, even the deployment of the entire African Corps of two thousand servicemen will still not be enough to hold the lines in the Kharkiv direction. To address the manpower shortage, the Russian army has expanded its recruitment campaign to Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan and Russian delegations, including Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Formin, have met to discuss the involvement of Sri Lankan nationals in the Russian army. It is known that over two hundred Sri Lankans have died in the conflict so far, and ongoing Russian recruitment efforts could attract many more mercenaries. Additional footage confirms the deployment of Sri Lankan mercenaries, including one fighter who was fortunate enough to be captured.
The recent summit between Putin and Kim Jong-Un may indicate further deployment of foreign fighters to the front in Ukraine, particularly in the Kharkiv direction. Although North Korean troops or mercenaries have not been deployed, Russia has used North Korean Hwasong ballistic missiles to strike Kharkiv city. In addition to the missiles, a substantial quantity of artillery shells was supplied to the Russians. However, the quality of these North Korean shells is inferior, as most have been in stock for decades and have become unusable.

Russland hat die geplante Stationierung von US-Waffen mit großer Reichweite in Deutschland scharf kritisiert und als Rückkehr in den Kalten Krieg bezeichnet. Kremlsprecher Dmitri Peskow sagte im russischen Staatsfernsehen, dass die Welt auf dem besten Weg zu einem neuen Kalten Krieg sei. Er warf Deutschland, den USA, Frankreich und Großbritannien vor, direkt in den Konflikt um die Ukraine verwickelt zu sein und betonte, dass alle Merkmale des Kalten Krieges, wie Konfrontation und direkte Auseinandersetzung, zurückkehren würden.
Peskow betonte, dass diese Maßnahmen unternommen würden, um Russland strategisch zu schwächen und eine Niederlage auf dem Schlachtfeld zu garantieren. Er rief dazu auf, das reiche Potenzial Russlands zu nutzen, um die Ziele der speziellen Militäroperation in der Ukraine zu erreichen. Ziel dieser Operation sei es unter anderem, eine Nato-Mitgliedschaft der Ukraine zu verhindern.
Am Rande des Nato-Gipfels teilten das Weiße Haus und die Bundesregierung mit, dass ab 2026 erstmals seit dem Kalten Krieg wieder US-Waffensysteme in Deutschland stationiert werden sollen, die bis nach Russland reichen. Geplant ist die Stationierung von Tomahawk-Marschflugkörpern mit einer Reichweite von über 2000 Kilometern, Flugabwehrraketen vom Typ SM-6 und neuen Überschallwaffen. Diese Maßnahmen sollen den Schutz der Nato-Verbündeten in Europa verbessern.
Der frühere russische Präsident Dmitri Medwedew reagierte auf die Ankündigung des Nato-Gipfels, dass der Weg der Ukraine in die Nato unumkehrbar sei, mit der provokativen Aussage, dass in diesem Fall sowohl die Ukraine als auch die Nato verschwinden müssten. Medwedew, der als Vizechef des russischen nationalen Sicherheitsrats fungiert, versucht sich seit Jahren mit besonders harten Aussagen als Hardliner zu profilieren.

A children's hospital in Kyiv has been largely destroyed after Russia launched a wave of missile strikes against cities across Ukraine.
The Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital - Ukraine's biggest paediatrics facility - sustained major damage in the explosion.
Thirty-six people were killed and 140 people were injured in the airstrikes, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky's office. They said more than 40 missiles of different types had hit buildings and infrastructure in cities including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.
Russia has denied targeting the hospital, saying it was hit by a Ukrainian air defence missile. But Ukraine says it found fragments of a Russian cruise missile at the scene.

A day of mourning is being observed in Ukraine after one of the worst waves of Russian missile strikes in months, with at least 41 people killed and 166 injured.
The main children's hospital in the capital Kyiv was among buildings hit in cities across the country on Monday.
Russia denied targeting the Kyiv hospital, saying it had been hit by fragments of a Ukrainian air defence missile, while Ukraine said it had found remnants of a Russian cruise missile.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the attack "brutal" and described his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin as a "bloody criminal".

After six months of setbacks, failed counter-offensives and heavy losses, the Ukrainian armed forces are suffering "death by a thousand cuts", according to a former general.
Despite inflicting punishing losses on Russia, which is currently losing up to 1,200 soldiers per day, Ukraine is being strained by relentless Russian attacks in an attempt to wear down the country.
Retired Australian Army Major General Mick Ryan said: "It really is this death by a thousand cuts."

In the eastern frontline Donetsk region of Ukraine, Russian attacks resulted in at least six fatalities and thirteen injuries, according to regional prosecutors. In the town of Myrnohrad, northwest of the Russian-held city of Donetsk, a Russian missile struck a bus stop and an administrative building, killing four people and wounded ten more.

Today, there are some critical developments in the Toretsk direction.
Here, Russians have embarked on an extensive bombing campaign, launching attacks and opening up a new front near Niu York.
As you remember from a previous report, a botched Ukrainian brigade rotation led to Russians seizing the initiative and launching a surprise attack on Pivnichne. Russians experienced initial success in their attacks due to the element of surprise and Ukrainians not being properly established in their positions. However, their attacks quickly lost momentum as the surprise wore off, and Ukrainians pulled back to their formidable defensive structures in the settlement.
The dangerous situation in Pivnichne drew much Ukrainian attention, and Russian forces realized their offensive near Pivnichne was stalling and would not result in a significant breakthrough. Russian forces changed their focus and started relentlessly bombing the Ukrainian stronghold of Niu York to the south to undermine Ukrainian defenses here with FAB glide bombs.
Geolocated footage reveals that Russians even utilized FAB 3000 bombs with over 1.4 tonnes of explosives on the industrial district in Niu York, which is the center of the Ukrainian defenses in the town. The Russian bombing campaign was intense and lasted a full week, significantly weakening Ukrainian defenses in Niu York. Russians launched a series of attacks on the town from the east and from the south. While Russian attacks from the east were easily repulsed, Russians were able to defeat preliminary Ukrainian defenses in the south by moving through the tree lines, establishing a foothold in the outskirts.
As Russians continued to push into the southern outskirts of Niu York, Ukrainian fortifications got progressively tougher, slowing the Russian advance to a crawl. Geolocated footage released by Russians shows how they extensively used drones, conventional and thermobaric artillery, and glide bombs to destroy any Ukrainian position they could not take in an outright assault. Footage from a Ukrainian observation drone even showed how a Russian sapper used an anti-tank mine as a satchel charge to demolish a Ukrainian position. The Russian soldier initially attempted to run away after he threw the mine into the building, but expectedly did not come very far before the mine landed and was killed by his own explosion.

Through sheer destruction, Russians were able to advance further into the outskirts and take control over the smaller settlement of Yurivka. Ukrainians did not give up ground without a fight, however, as geolocated footage shows Ukrainians were intensely targeting Russian soldiers with FPV drones and drone-dropped grenades. Ukrainians also inflicted heavy casualties on Russian forces through their fortified positions alone, killing many Russian soldiers with small arms fire.
Geolocated footage also shows how Ukrainians utilized Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to fire into Russian positions in the buildings. The footage continues as a Ukrainian assault brigade dismounts from the Bradley and clears the surrounding houses. Such counterattacks severely blunted the Russian attacks, as Bradleys are incredibly effective in these situations. Bradleys used their automatic canon to destroy Russian positions and suppress Russian soldiers so the infantry could carry out their assaults.

If we look at the topographic map, we can see that the Russian spearhead is also exclusively contained to the lowlands. As such, Ukrainians can effectively fire into Russian assault groups, only worsening Russian losses. A Russian military analyst stated that Russians experienced significant difficulties in widening their spearhead because Ukrainians established strong fortified positions on the hills and had extensively mined the area as well.
The Russian analyst also noted that further Russian advancement would also be extremely difficult; Ukrainian positions in the high-rise district were situated on the high ground with powerful firing points. Additionally, Ukrainians had complete control over the approaches through landmines and drones...

In a rare protest letter, the Black Berets claimed that “inept” commanders cost them 300 men in just four days, and that the same commanders called them “meat”.
