Donald Trump has named Ohio Senator JD Vance as his vice-presidential nominee.
Mr Vance, 39, is a Yale-educated venture capitalist and author of the bestselling memoir-turned-film Hillbilly Elegy.
Once an avowed "never-Trumper", he won a seat in the US Senate in the 2022 midterm elections with the former president's endorsement.
Trump said on Truth Social on Monday that after "lengthy deliberation and thought", Mr Vance was "the person best suited" to be his running mate.
He said he had considered the "tremendous talents of many others".
