Israel Continues to Strike Gaza, Kills Senior Hamas Commander Rafa Salama

The Israeli military has said that its July 13 strike near the city of Khan Younis has killed key Hamas commander Rafa Salama. Israel believes that Salama was an associate of Hamas’ military chief Mohammed Deif, who was the main target of the strike. Israel has not confirmed whether the strike killed Deif. Meanwhile, civil defence agency officials in Gaza have said that an Israeli strike on the UN-run Abu Araban school in the Nuseirat camp has killed at least 15 people. The Gaza officials claim that the school was sheltering displaced Palestinians. The strike marks the fifth attack on a school-turned-shelter in the last eight days. According to the Israeli military, the school "served as a hideout" and base for "attacks" on its troops.
