After Celie is given her first letter from her sister Nettie, who she hadn't heard from in so many years since they were basically children, Celie was determined to leave this place, and Mister. It was Thanksgiving, and Celie planned to leave, along with Shug and everyone else, right after dinner, to go to Memphis with them and make a new life for herself. All because it was Mister to had kept her sister Nettie's letters from her. And he ran Nettie off, all those years ago, to begin with. And it was Mister that married her, against her own wishes. And Mister, was abusive to her, in many different ways. He made her life HELL. So it was time to go. But before she did, she cursed Mister by telling him that, Until He Did Right By Her, Everything He Even Thought About, Was Going To Fail.
