1974: John NOAKES Fixes QPR's Floodlights | Blue Peter | Classic Sports clips | BBC Archive
Resident action man John Noakes popped over the road from the Blue Peter offices, to let the neighbours - Queen's Park Rangers Football Club - know that they'd left their lights on.
Almost inevitably, he ended up having to scale an 80ft ladder in the freezing cold with a giant light bulb stuffed into his coat. Still, with bit of help from Charlie the electrician, the bulb was replaced and the Loftus Road pitch was beautifully illuminated in time for the visit of Burnley.
Originally broadcast 14 March, 1974.
Blue Peter is still going strong, with new editions of the show broadcast live on CBBC and BBC iPlayer every Friday at 5pm: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/....episodes/b006md2v/bl
