Search teams looking for Jay Slater in Tenerife have found a body near the last known location of the missing British teenager's mobile phone.

The Guardia Civil said its officers and a mountain rescue unit found the body of a young man in the Masca area "after 29 days of non-stop searching".

The 19-year-old was last seen on 17 June, after visiting an Airbnb rented by two people he had been with at a music festival on the island.

Protesters have taken to the streets in Nairobi, Kenya, to challenge the government over a series of unpopular tax proposals - including a 16% levy on bread.

On Tuesday, hundreds of protestors - most of them younger people - braved tear gas lobbed by police to march through the capital, Nairobi, bringing the city's central business district to a standstill.

The government had earlier defended the tax hikes, which had been projected to raise $2.7bn (£2.1bn), saying they were needed to cut reliance on external borrowing.

MPs are now debating the revised bill and are expected to vote on it next Tuesday.

The man who is suspected of attempting to kill former US President Donald Trump has been named.

The FBI has identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks - he was shot and killed by the Secret Service.

Trump was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.

Trump, who emerged with a bloodied face, said he was shot in the ear.

The FBI said they are treating the incident as an assassination attempt.

Former Conservative prime minister Liz Truss has lost her seat in the UK general election.

Truss was standing in the constituency of South West Norfolk and lost to Labour by 630 votes.

In 2019, she won the seat with a majority of 26,195.

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania exposed a series of security lapses that allowed the gunman to mount his assassination attempt.

The gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks was able to access a roof around 130 meters from the podium where Mr Trump was speaking.

It’s the job of the US Secret Service to protect sitting and former presidents. Somehow the gunman managed to breach the security perimeter with a rifle and reach an elevated position close to Mr Trump.

Video of the attack and the accounts of eyewitnesses suggest that members of the crowd became aware of the threat before the police and other security officials and attempted to alert them to the danger It was only when the gunman opened fire that officials recognised the danger and responded, with Thomas Crooks shot dead by armed officers.

A children's hospital has been seriously damaged in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv by Russian strikes, as 24 people were killed across the country in an early morning barrage.

At least 10 people were killed in Kyiv by the rare daytime attack, including two who died at the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital, which sustained major damage during the blast.

Vitaliy Klitschko, Kyiv's mayor, said the bombardment was "one of the the worst attacks" on the capital since the start of the war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is visiting Poland where he is expected to sign a security pact, said Russia must face consequences for its attacks on civilians.

China has fiercely rejected accusations from Nato - whose leaders are meeting in Washington - that it's helping maintain Russia's war in Ukraine.


Beijing has described Nato's behaviour as "unreasonable", and urged nations to reflect on the "root causes" of the war.


The Nato gathering has mostly focused on support for Ukraine - but China's role has also come under the spotlight.


The military alliance said Beijing had become Russia's "decisive enabler", with its "large-scale support for Russia’s defense industrial base".


On Thursday, Nato will hold talks with the leaders of several Asia-Pacific countries about China.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has praised North Korea for "firmly supporting" Moscow's war in Ukraine, ahead of his first visit to Pyongyang in 24 years.

Mr Putin is expected to arrive in the capital to meet North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday.

The two leaders last met in September at the Vostochny cosmodrome in Russia's far east, but this is Mr Putin’s first visit to Pyongyang since 2000.

The United States said it was concerned about the "deepening relationship between these two countries".

Keir Starmer has said that he is going to have to make tough decisions and "make them early" in his first news conference as UK prime minister.

The US Supreme Court has said Donald Trump and other former presidents are immune from criminal prosecution for official acts, in a major legal victory for the Republican White House candidate.

The decision makes it less likely that the Republican candidate will stand trial before he challenges Democratic President Joe Biden in November's White House election.

It is the first time since the nation's founding that the Supreme Court has declared former presidents can be shielded from criminal charges.

The justices found that a president is not immune for "unofficial acts”. The 6-3 ruling did not dismiss outright an indictment that charges Trump with plotting to overturn the 2020 election, but it did strip away key elements of the case against him.

The three liberal justices on the Supreme Court dissented strongly from the ruling, expressing “fear for our democracy”. “The President is now a king above the law,” wrote Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

কোটা আন্দোলন ঘিরে উত্তপ্ত ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়। দুপুরের পর থেকে কোটাবিরোধী শিক্ষার্থী ও ছাত্রলীগের মধ্যকার সংঘর্ষ চলে রাত পর্যন্ত। দফায় দফায় সংঘর্ষে আহত হয়েছেন অনেকে। শেষ খবর পাওয়া পর্যন্ত ঢাকা মেডিকেলে চিকিৎসা নিয়েছেন প্রায় ৩শ জন, ভর্তি আছেন ১২ জন। সংঘর্ষ হয় হাসপাতালেও। পুলিশ শিক্ষার্থীদের হলে ফিরে যেতে অনুরোধ করে। প্রভোস্টদের সাথে বৈঠক শেষে শিক্ষার্থীদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে বেশ কয়েকটি সিদ্ধান্ত নেন উপাচার্য।
