In fact, India is one of the world’s richest countries in terms of its vast array of biological diversity and has nearly 8 percent of the total number of species in the world (estimated to be 1.6 million).

Over 81,000 species of fauna and 47,000 species of flora are found in this country so far? Of the estimated 47,000 plant species, about 15,000 flowering species are endemic (indigenous) to India.
Some estimates suggest that at least 10 percent of India’s recorded wild flora and 20 percent of its mammals are on the threatened list. Many of these would now be categorised as ‘critical’, that is on the verge of extinction like the cheetah, pink-headed duck, mountain quail, forest spotted owlet, and plants like madhuca insignis (a wild variety of mahua) and hubbardia heptaneuron,(a species of grass). In fact, no one can say how many species may have already been lost. Today, we only talk of the larger and more visible animals and plants that have become extinct but what about smaller animals like insects and plants?

Vegetation in the Sahara desert includes cactus, date palms and acacia. In some places there are oasis – green islands with date palms surrounding them. Camels, hyenas, jackals, foxes, scorpions, many varieties of snakes and lizards are the prominent animal species living there.

Due to high aridity, the vegetation is sparse. There are scanty patches of grasses and shrubs for animals to graze. Groves of willows and poplars are seen in the valleys. During the summers, fruit trees such as apples, apricots and walnuts bloom. Several species of birds are sighted in Ladakh. Robins, redstarts, Tibetan snowcock, raven and hoopoe are common. Some of these are igratory birds. The animals of Ladakh are wild goats, wild sheep, yak and special kinds of dogs. The animals are reared to provide for the milk, meat and hides. Yak’s milk is used to make cheese and butter. The hair of the sheep and goat is used to make woollens. .

Hier möchte ich meine innige Beziehung zur Natur und zum Garten mit dir teilen und dich hoffentlich mit meiner Liebe zum Gemüseanbau, alten Sorten, Raritäten und zur Vielfalt inspirieren.

Mein Schrebergarten liegt mitten in der Stadt und ist mit 370m2 nicht besonders groß, bringt aber trotz regelmäßigem Hamburger Schietwetter immer eine reiche Ernte hervor. Mein jüngstes Projekt ist ein Waldgarten auf kleinstem Raum, in dem es bald von der Indianerbanane bis zur Honigbeere einiges an ungewöhnlichen Obstsorten zu ernten gibt.

Created as an overview of Diageo's "Flora & Fauna" series of single malt Scotch whiskies. This one is, perhaps, a little esoteric. Despite this range confusing me at first, it's since become a favourite of mine and I share some of the reasons why, but also what I think could be better. Think of it as a fan letter.

I also share my thoughts on the currently available expressions and which you might enjoy.

Missing here is a point I didn't make very well on the shoot, and that is that of the 11 expressions currently available, 9 are Speyside malts. The remaining two are Highlands. Over time Diageo have clipped and thinned the range to the point there's far less variation in the series than there once was. Despite this, I still feel it warrants exploration. I have also not mentioned here that the only operating distillery that's owned by Diageo which doesn't contribute an expression to the range is Roseisle. That's probably not quite come of age yet, but honestly at the time of writing/shooting I don't know Diageo's plans for Roseisle going forward.

I've tried to be as accurate as possible with the details in this video, but I politely ask that you understand this is meant as entertainment and the intended audience is whisky enthusiasts.

How To Play: Flora and Fauna.

This immersive set collection solo game is set in the Amazon rainforest. You aim to create as many canopy structures as possible before running out of cards. Each canopy structure consists of four layers of the rainforest and the incredible wildlife within! As you make your way across the rainforest by day, collect the species you need for your canopy structures. But keep an eye on where each species is, as each one will be harder to identify in the dark as you travel back to camp by night.

Ages 12+, 1 player, and an average 20-minute gameplay.
