I’m very excited to share this first full street food in Pakistan video with you! We started our trip in Lahore, a vibrant, colorful, and packed full of food city. Our first day in Lahore turned out to be a 16 hour street food marathon in Lahore, and it was an amazing day!

Sadiq Halwa Puri (https://goo.gl/maps/Yoy9dJ6steF2) - We began the day with a very common breakfast throughout Pakistan, halwa puri, but along with chana curry (chickpea curry). We ate off the car, enjoying every bit of the freshly fried puris and curry.
Total price - 640 PKR ($4.78)

Chacha Feeka Lassi (https://goo.gl/maps/RGQBRQaNj8p) - Next we drove over to Gawalmandi, one of the most legendary areas in Lahore for food. We headed straight to a breakfast staple, the lassi shop and had the most creamy heavy milkshake I’ve ever had, called a pera lassi.

Roasted chickpeas - 25 PKR ($0.19) - After exiting an alley, right in front of us was a man selling chickpeas and corn roasted in black Himalayan salt. It’s a very common street food snack in Pakistan.

Sweet potato - 80 PKR ($0.60) - Sweet potato is also a very common street food snack in Lahore, seasoned with masala and a type of citrus juice.

Baba Kulfi Wala - Next we headed over to Shah Alami Market, another huge and bustling market in Lahore.

Kulfi - 20 PKR ($0.15) each - One of the most famous places to eat ice cream in Lahore is Baba Kulfi Wala, and you’ll find a crowd of people standing around the corner of the road eating sticks of their famous kulfi.

Orange juice - 50 PKR ($0.37)

Chana chaat - 120 PKR ($0.89) per plate - One of my personal favorite Pakistani street food snacks of the day was chana chaat, a chickpea snack. He added in all sorts of spices, chutneys, and seasonings, to create a deliciously refreshing snack.

Butt Karahi Tikka Restaurant - Easily one of the most well known restaurants in Lahore is Butt Karahi, specializing in curry made in a rounded pan, called a karahi (we will be eating a lot of karahi’s in Pakistan!). We ordered both a mutton karahi and chicken karahi. Both were amazing, filled with spices and butter, but the tenderness of the mutton was the winner.
Total price - 5,600 PKR ($41.84)

Siddique Fish Corner - You’ll notice that Lahore seems to come alive at night, and street food is everywhere at night. We began the evening with Siddique Fish Corner, one of the best fried fish stalls in Lahore. It was awesome, and so busy.
Total price - 400 PKR ($2.99)

Khalifa Balochi Sajji - Another Pakistani dish I wanted to try was chicken sajji, a type of hand rotisserie chicken. The atmosphere and cooking method was incredible.
Total price - 390 PKR ($2.91)

Khan Baba Restaurant - Finally for our last dinner on this 16 hour day of food in Pakistan, we went to one of Ali’s favorite restaurants in Lahore, Khan Baba. The goat chops were impressive as was the korma curry.

In this video, I will take you on an incredible street food tour in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to try some of the most unique street food in Asia.

We start our street food tour in Uzbekistan with a classic breakfast, Somsa stuffed with lamb and cooked in a tandoori oven. Absolutely amazing!!

To continue our street food tour in Uzbekistan, we went to the biggest Halal street food market in the country, Chorsu Bazaar, to try some of the most unique and extreme street foods in Asia.

Moving on with our street food tour in Uzbekistan, we had lunch in a yurt and we had unique green noodles, insane dumplings and smoky freshwater fish.

To end our street food tour in Uzbekistan, we had incredibly delicious lamb cooked for four hours in a huge hot pot.

FASTFOOD-KETTEN: MACHT SICH DIE QUALITÄT BEIM PREIS BEMERKBAR?
Fastfood-Ketten sprießen in Deutschland wie Pilze aus dem Boden. Die Preise der Schnellimbisse divergieren teils stark. Stolze Burger-Preise haben etwa Peter Pane, Hans im Glück oder Five Guys. Zu den günstigeren gehört das Flaggschiff unter den Fastfood-Ketten: Mc Donald’s. Das Fazit unseres Experten: Die häufig tiefgekühlten Patties der teureren Ketten sind ihren Preis nicht wert. Preis-Leistungssieger ist daher: Mc Donald’s.

WIE STEHT’S MIT DEM TIERWOHL?
Da die Verbraucher heutzutage immer mehr Wert auf die Tierhaltung und die Herkunft des Fleischs legen, werben viele Fastfood-Ketten auf ihren Seiten mit „Tierwohl-Labels“. Hier ist aber Vorsicht geboten: Worte wie artgerecht oder Tierwohl sind gesetzlich nicht definiert. Die angeblich tierfreundlichen Labels entsprechen meist gerade so dem gesetzlichen Standard, bieten also gar kein mehr an Tierwohl, wie die Labels es oft suggerieren.

TEURE RESTAURANTS = GUTE QUALITÄT?
Auch bei Restaurants steht die Wirtschaftlichkeit stark im Vordergrund. 80 Prozent der Gastronomen in Deutschland arbeiten mit Convenience-Produkten, also solchen Produkten, die woanders zubereitet wurden und dann fertig zum Aufwärmen an die Restaurants geliefert werden. Auch teure Restaurants arbeiten zum Teil damit. Bei einigen Restaurants stimmt daher das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis nicht.

STEHT DIE GASTRONOMIE VOR DEM AUS?
Hier gibt es unterschiedliche Meinungen. Der Vorsitzende der Initiative “Vereint für die Gastro” hält die aktuelle wirtschaftliche Lage für die Gastronomie für dramatisch – zahlreiche Betriebe hätten aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie schließen müssen. Laut einer Studie im Auftrag des Ifo-Instituts erlebt die Gastronomie-Branche allerdings seit dem Ende der Pandemie wieder einen Aufschwung. Eine weiterhin gesenkte Mehrwertsteuer wäre gegenüber anderen Branchen nicht gerechtfertigt.

Who has the best crispy chicken sandwich? There are so many restaurants to choose from. Names that you've often heard get the most praise certainly include Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. But what about KFC? Or Raising Cane's? And what about the classics...McDonald's, Burger King, and Wendy's? There are far too many restaurants that boast a crispy chicken sandwich now, leaving the choice for consumers rather difficult. So, I've done all the hard work and drove to every single restaurant in a day (actually, we drove to Popeye's twice since the first was somehow cash-only). I taste-tested every single one, examining each sandwich and also taking into account the fact that experience can certainly vary by location.

Ultimately, there's a list of somewhat clear winners. I'll let you watch to be surprised, but I will say that the top two spots are actually quite close. The top three, however, have very firm and stable positions. I hope that I can help for next time you try to pick a lunch on the go.

Industry experts say this trend is expected to accelerate as consumer spending continues to slow down.
