However, not all of us have the time, resources, or opportunity to visit the birthplace of the taco, so we have to rely on restaurants in the United States to give us the authentic experience. "Authentic" is a tricky word, and not all of these restaurants strive for it. Instead, they opt to build upon the foundation that classical Mexican cooking laid. Others, however, do attempt to recreate the genuine Mexican experience for people who live far across the border. Either way, these are hands down the best Mexican restaurants in the US.

In case you didn't know, I am Hispanic of Mexican decent. And I think I'm pretty picky when it comes to Mexican food, let alone picking out a restaurant. Majority of Mexicans out there say its their mom or grandmother that made the best food, so this was a challenging subject, hence why I took so long to create this video. For me, a good Mexican restaurant involves fresh food, and effort. No store bought tortillas please, or else I don't think it's a good restaurant. I want to show you the different styles of Mexican cuisine, from homestyle cooking, seafood, tacos, healthy food, and fish tacos. Hey Guys, Rob here for bestnearme.co and today I wanted to talk to you all about the best mexican food near me in Phoenix Arizona, in this guy's opinion. They are Carolina's Mexican Food and Arriba Mexican Grill. Carolina's is fast but it's not Taco Bell. Their food is authentic and delicous. Carolina's has 3 valley locations, I can proudly say that I have eaten at all 3 and have never been disappointed.
Just to get some insight on me. My measuring stick for a good Mexican food restaurant begins and ends with their Red Chile or Chile Rojo. If a "Mexican food" restaurant can't make good red chile then I won't bother eating there again. That's just how I roll!

I could probably eat red chile every day but that would not leave room for sushi and pizza, and probably would not be the most ideal for my waistline.
My other favorite Mexican food restaurant is Arriba Mexican Grill. My favorite dish there is the White Sands chimichanga. The things that prevents me from eating Arriba as much as I would like are: the calories, the hatch chiles can be a little too hot for me and they are not located as close to me as Carolina's is geographically.

If you're looking for a more upscale sit down restaurant with a bar then you would want Arriba Mexican Grill. They have several valley locations and are probably close to you regardless of where you live in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
If you're going to Arriba I would recommend getting a side of sour cream with your meal in an attempt to put out the potential fire. We all know that a fire going may also turn into a fire coming out. I'm not trying to be gross but I have to be honest. I don't want anyone with a stomach that is sensitive to spice coming back to me later and saying I didn't warn them.
A bonus Mexican food restaurant that I did NOT mention on my own website is Rubio's. If you like Baja style Mexican food such as shrimp burritos or fish tacos then you will love Rubio's. It's pretty hard not to love their fresh salsa bar! I believe Rubio’s offers their fish tacos for $2 each after two thirty PM on Tuesdays. Just something to keep in mind, wink wink.
