US Proposes Ban on Chinese and Russian Technology Used in Smart Vehicles | Firstpost America
The government of the United States has proposed a ban on Chinese and Russian software and hardware that are used in smart vehicles. The technology is used to connect smart cars to the outside world via Bluetooth and Internet. The US Commerce Department says that the technology poses a national security risk to the US as China and Russia can use it to hack vehicles, make them crash and steal personal data of drivers. The software ban could take effect in Model year 2027 and hardware ban could be effective from Model year 2030. This is the latest escalation in the US' actions against Chinese technology.
