FUKUOKA, JAPAN - Welcome to Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu, in southern Japan, and this is one of the capitals of Japanese street food in the country. They have done an amazing job to preserve the culture of “yatai” or portable street food stalls that set up in the evening across the city. Tonight we’re going on an ultimate Japanese street food tour in Fukuoka, going to 5 different place for 5 Japanese dishes and I can’t wait to share all the food with you now.

#1 Yaki Ramen
Location: Kokinchan: https://goo.gl/maps/AMGdvUadJR6JbFwi6 - We’re starting off with a famous yatai stall where they invented the original yaki ramen - or fried ramen. It was definitely new to me, I thought it would be more of a dry fried noodles, but it was rather a wet and soup fried noodle dish. Amazing, as were the other dishes.
Price - 2,650 JPY for everything

#2 Gyoza
Location: Yatai Mamichan: https://goo.gl/maps/dwSFjcZea59H947D8 - You can go on a Japanese street food tour without eating gyoza, and Yatai Mamichan is one of the best places to eat them. The chef is amazingly skilling, cooking everything on his own and darting from station to station. Part of the great thing about eating at Yatai is being right in front of the cooking and interacting with the chef.
Price - 8,450 JPY for 5 people (we ordered a lot and lots of drinks)

#3 Tempura - Next, I’m not totally sure of the name of this place, but they are known for their tempura, battered and deep fried seafood and vegetables. It was a little oily, but still quite tasty.
Price - 1,100 JPY

#4 Hakata Ramen
Location: Yatai Kiryu: https://goo.gl/maps/RB5UQkK8wFUG8TTX6 - Hakata ramen, or tonkotsu ramen is one of the most common and popular dishes in Fukuoka and you’ll find Hakata ramen served at nearly all yatai food stalls.
Price - 650 JPY per bowl

#5 Yakitori
Location: Yatai Kawachan: https://goo.gl/maps/5jzCzVt4VwHJ7hGS7 - Finally we ate at a place called Yatai Kawachan, known for their yakitori, or grilled chicken skewers. It was a quite a selection of different skewers from gizzard to hot dog.
Total price - 4,400 JPY for everything with drinks

The yatai street food culture in Fukuoka is one of the great Japanese food scenes in Japan. Let’s hope generations continue to take pride in their food stalls and preserve the yatai culture.

Istanbul, Türkiye - Welcome to Istanbul, one of the most fascinating, historical, and delicious cities in the world. Today I’ll be taking you on an ultimate Turkish street food tour in Istanbul - you can expect some iconic street foods and some unseen surprises!

📍Galata Simitçisi (https://maps.app.goo.gl/21CJNCCZZ4FMSB9YA) - You can’t come to Istanbul without trying simit, a common ring shaped bread that you’ll find at bakeries and street food carts throughout the city.

📍Çiğ Köfteci Seyfettin Usta (https://maps.app.goo.gl/u6i4Fj4LEpNRhZSJA) - One of my absolute favorite Turkish foods is Çiğ Köfte, that includes raw meat, bulgur, and lots of spices.

📍Dürümcü Raif Usta (https://maps.app.goo.gl/xkrWpGzZeSoByJQCA) - Turkey is the king of kebabs and a durum is a grilled kebab served wrapped in bread so it’s often fast and on the go.

📍Tarihi Eminönü Derya Balıkçısı 1945 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/qq2h2opz347XSv3v8) - Probably the most iconic of all Turkish street foods in Istanbul is the balik ekmek, a grilled fish sandwich still served on a boat on the Golden Horn.

Bucatini Carbonara
RECIPE COURTESY OF GUY FIERI

Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups 1/4-inch diced pancetta
1 cup 1/4-inch diced yellow onion
Kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper
5 large eggs
1 cup grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
1 pound bucatini pasta
1 tablespoon chopped Italian parsley

Directions

Cook the pancetta in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until crisp and the fat has rendered, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the pancetta to a paper-towel-lined plate and set aside. Add the onions to the pan with the drippings and cook until translucent, 3 to 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and then reduce the heat to keep warm.

Separate the eggs and place the yolks in a large bowl (reserve the whites to use in another recipe). Whisk together the egg yolks and half the Parmigiano-Reggiano and season with salt and pepper. Add the egg mixture to a large stainless bowl with the onions and mix well.

Cook the pasta in salted, boiling water until al dente (according to pasta directions). When the pasta is just about finished, strain the pasta and transfer directly from the pot of water to the mixing bowl with the onions. Using tongs, mix well so the egg mixture coats the pasta evenly and cooks from the residual heat. Add about 3/4 cup of pasta water to fortify the sauce. Fold in the remaining Parmigiano-Reggiano, crisped pancetta (reserve a little for garnish) and season with salt and pepper.

Serve immediately, garnished with the reserved pancetta and parsley.

Thiru Kumar, AKA the Dosa Man, has been running NY Dosas, a food cart in Greenwich Village's Washington Square Park, since 2001. His dosas-which are made from fermented rice and lentils, and stuffed with potatoes, vegetables and spicy sauces-have become an international phenomenon. Thiru grew up in Sri Lanka and learned to make South Indian recipes as a child. After he immigrated to the United States in the 90s, he made it his life's work to sell affordable, fresh and vegan dosas to NYU students, professors and other passerby's.

You either got curtain bangs or dyed your hair during quarantine, and if you didn't do either...😀 idk u must have healthy coping mechanisms or smth 😂😐 Anyway, a lot of people regret getting curtain bangs bc they don't know how to style them, but it doesn't have to be overly complicated! Here's my current hair styling routine + the easiest way to style curtain bangs + face framing layers with a c curl. I love how this adds volume which gives a soft/fluffy look to your hair (and kind of changes your entire face shape 😳)..hope this is helpful!

Hello hello! How's 2021 going?
You know how we had dalgona + Chloe Ting phases last year? I predict January's phase is journaling. I myself have started and I actually really like it! I mentioned my mental health was dwindling at the end of last year, so I started using a happiness planner recently. I fill it out in the morning and at night and although it's only been about a week, I'm already feeling a little more hopeful ♡ Aside from helping you schedule out your day/week, the main focus is filling out what you're excited for each day and what you're grateful for each night. My goal for this year was to be excited to live again and this has helped me continue finding things to appreciate and look forward to each day. I hope you're all well and healthy wherever you are!
